I believe that as human beings we are incredibly resilient but weathering the storms of life can be difficult at times without the proper resources and support. Counseling can provide an outlet that allows us to explore our pain and gain an understanding of our true Self. I take an integrative, holistic, and trauma informed approach to counseling, tailoring each session to meet your unique needs. I draw from several models such as Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Somatic Interventions and Psychodynamic theory.
Some of the issues that clients seek counseling for are:
Difficult Life Transitions
Anxiety
Depression
Stress Management
Grief and Loss
Self Awareness/Self Esteem
Trauma
Relationship Struggles
Long Term Illness and Disability
Life Transitions
Work Related Stress and Performance Anxiety
Developing Healthy Work/Life Balance
I use a warm, open and collaborative approach, together we will work to discover the resources you hold within you to promote healing, growth and change. During sessions I often incorporate aspects of mindfulness, body awareness, grounding, psycho-education, and self-care. I have experience working with survivors of both childhood and adult trauma, specifically, sexual assault, medical, military and first responder trauma.
I work to help clients understand the significant impact that trauma has on different aspects of life and I use a body-centered and relational approach. I believe that the body, mind and spirit are all interconnected and that the body can be a powerful resource that can be used to gain insight and increase self-awareness.
I specialize in EMDR and IFS to treat not only trauma, but anxiety, grief, chronic pain, professional development, and self-esteem issues. I provide counseling to those living in Beaverton, Tigard, SW Portland, and surrounding areas.
